USB Driver
****Note: The following suffixes and explanations apply exclusively to the "RPC" series programming cables from the "MAXTONDATA" brand.
Programming Cable Model Suffix "-UF" (with FTDI chipset)
Programming cables with the "-UF" suffix automatically download and install drivers on Windows 10/11 systems, provided your computer is connected to the internet. There is no need for manual driver installation.
If the system is unable to complete the automatic installation, you can manually download and install the appropriate driver for your specific version of Windows.
Driver Description
The Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers enable the USB device to appear as an additional COM port on the PC. This allows application software to interact with the USB device in the same manner as it would with a standard COM port.
Applicable products: MAXTONDATA "RPC" series programming cables with the "-UF" model suffix.

These cables do not require USB driver installation, as the programming software already includes the USB driver.

Installing Drivers (RPC-XXX-UF /RPC-XXX-UC)
To install drivers under Windows , follow the instructions below:
Connect the device to a spare USB port on your PC.
Windows Update
If there is an available internet connection, Windows 10/11 will silently connect to the Windows Update service,and install any suitable driver it finds for the device.
Manual Installation
If no suitable driver is automatically found, then the following procedure should be followed.
1. Firstly, download the latest windows driver files fromMaxtondata.com/pages/usb-driver and save
the driver .zip file, then extract the .zip file.
2. In the Device Manager window there should be
a device under Other Devices with a yellow warning symbolto indicate a problem i.e. no driver installed.
3. Right click USB Serial Cable to bring up a menu ,select “Update Driver Software…
4. Browse the directory where the driver is downloaded ,
select “Next” to start the installation.
5. When the installation has finished a completion
screen is displayed as below.
6. Device manager displays the COM port number
assigned to the device.
